Following publication last year of new guidance to ensure equitable access to all federally funded research across the USA, Spain has now adopted a national Open Access strategy.

Under the four-year national strategy for open science, all outputs of publicly financed research will be made available free upon publication, with Open Access becoming the default mode for all research funded directly or indirectly, with public funds.
