2024/2025 Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) POST Westminster Fellowship scheme
Applications are open for the 2024/2025 Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) POST Westminster Fellowship scheme. This is open to RSC members who are undertaking or have recently finished their PhD studies.
The deadline for applications is 23:59 on 17 May 2024.
About the scheme
POST and the RSC are offering a 13-week fellowship to members of the RSC. There is one funded fellowship available.
The successful applicant will be based in UK Parliament, supporting its use of research evidence. Most fellows assist POST in providing briefing material for parliamentarians on emerging science topics. Work may include:
- Producing a POSTnote or POSTbrief (briefing documents to help inform the work of MPs and Peers) or contributing to a longer briefing report.
- Assisting a select committee in an ongoing inquiry.
- Organising a seminar to inform or disseminate research.
Who is eligible to apply?
The scheme is open to members of the RSC who are undertaking or have recently completed their PhD study. “Recently completed” applies to people whose PhD funding ended within the six months prior to the application deadline (if your funding ended before 17 November 2023, you are not eligible for this fellowship).
How to apply
It is important that you download and read the application pack before applying, as it contains more details on the role, application process, and assessment criteria.
You can find the rest of the details about the fellowship scheme here.

No one puts the Lord Speaker in the Corner
We’ve made an exciting discovery this week: the Lord Speaker has a podcast! In his podcast, ‘Lord Speaker’s Corner’, the Lord Speaker interviews different members of the House of Lords. He asks them all sorts of questions about their background, their interests and their perspectives. Recent episodes include with Baroness Young of Hornsey, and Astronomer Royal Lord Rees of Ludlow.
So what?
These podcasts are a great way to get to know Parliament’s Lords and Baronesses and hear from the people behind the titles. The insights the podcasts enable give you a great way to see how the Members of the House of Lords tick, and, in so doing, think about how to adapt your engagement with them accordingly.
