The University of Portsmouth Library has secured a number of deals with some key publishers offering discounted and free gold Open Access (OA) to staff members. These deals offer reduced rates on Article Processing Charges (APCs) to make your journal articles OA as soon as they are published on the publishers’ websites.
Deals include –
- 75% of APCs for articles published in many Taylor & Francis journals.
- Free APCs for articles published with many Springer journals.
- APCs for £200 for articles published with many Sage journals.
- Free APCs for articles published in the Royal Society of Chemistry journals.
The discount schemes all work in slightly different ways, and it is probable you will need a code from the Library before the discount can be applied. More information about applying for funding to pay APCs can be found here, or please contact the Open Access team – openaccess@port.ac.uk.
Articles made OA via the gold route still also need to be uploaded to Pure as soon as they are accepted for publication to meet HEFCE’s REF eligibility policy.
