The UK Young Academy Initiative Working Group is asking Early Career Researchers to please fill in the survey below, which discusses supporting and empowering UK Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in tackling societal issues.
The survey is designed to consult ECRs in the UK on the possibility, desirability and feasibility of setting up a UK-wide Young Academy, or another type of ECR Forum. It should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
To date, more than 40 young academies have been established around the world, complementing the network of senior academies of sciences and humanities. Besides cherishing research excellence, young academies aim to contribute to societal change through inter-generational and interdisciplinary dialogue and public engagement, giving ECRs a distinct voice in research and policy discussions. An excellent example is the Young Academy of Scotland, but many others exist throughout Europe and worldwide.
This survey has been compiled by a group of ECRs from across the UK, working in a range of disciplines. It is the result of a meeting of UK ECRs in March 2019, hosted by the Royal Society and the British Academy, to explore how best to support and empower UK ECRs.
The survey is anonymous and hosted by the Global Young Academy at https://globalyoungacademy.net/uk-ecr-survey-uk-wide-ya/
The deadline for completion is 27 October 2019.
