The University’s Research Outputs Team was established in 2016, to provide support for researchers and academics on topics areas such as Open Access publishing, research data, REF eligibility and compliance with the Open Access policies from UKRI and Research England.

One of the core responsibilities of the team is to process (or validate) outputs which are entered onto Pure by academics to ensure the completeness of the research output record and its compliance with both the University’s Open Access publishing policy and the REF Open Access policy.

2021 is a landmark year for the team, marking 5 years since its inception. Here’s a quick summary of the activity of the Team with regards research outputs over its first 5 years:

9,626 research outputs were added to Pure and, subsequently, processed by the team (almost 2,000 per year)

68% (6,567) of these were either Journal Articles, Literature Reviews or Conference Contributions in scope of the REF Open Access policy
