In 2021, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy expressed its commitment to driving the adoption of the Résumé for Researchers (or narrative CV) to broaden the range of recognised experiences and accomplishments of researchers. This alternative CV, developed by the Royal Society and UKRI, allows activities beyond publication record and secured grants to be recorded and recognised when evaluating research candidates.

It’s a great idea however, writing one is a different matter. To help with this, the University of Glasgow provides a free, open to anyone, online course to help researchers develop their narrative CVs. For more information and to enrol, go here.
