On the 14th September, Dr Matt Walker (Elsevier) will lead workshops for academic staff at the University of Portsmouth on the effective use of the Elsevier’s SciVal research intelligence tool (www.scival.com). He will cover the responsible use of metrics and best practice for benchmarking and reporting using the database.
The SciVal database allows you to view the full publication profile (ie. number of publications, citations, metrics etc) of universities, businesses, organisations, research groups or individual researchers. It can assist in identifying national and international collaborators, both from academia and industry. It can also be used to guide publication strategy and model the effect of changes on a research group.
The session is suitable for new and returning users. Please bring your laptop if you wish to follow the practical examples used during the session. These workshops will be small groups, so there will be plenty of opportunities to discuss specific questions with Matt.
To book a place, please see the Eventbrite page.
If you would like a quick introduction to SciVal before the workshop, please watch the ‘What is SciVal’ short video.
