Last week we had been due to host a visit from our European Advisor from UKRO, the UK Research Office (the European office of UKRI), based in Brussels. With everything unfolding as it has, needless to say we postponed the visit for the time being. However, as the world is still turning and we are all finding new ways of working from home, I wanted to share with you some information and guidance to help keep things moving along.

In lieu of the slides that would have been presented last week, I have put together some information for those wishing to know more about getting involved in Horizon 2020. UoP colleagues can access this information when signed into your University email account. Within it I highlight the success that we have had with the different funding streams and provide advice for would-be applicants. This is a live document (currently a bit ‘raw’) that I will update every so often and so if you have any feedback please do get in touch.

Further to this, I wholeheartedly encourage you to explore the UKRO website. It has a wealth of information and guidance on European funding and all UoP colleagues can create an account to access subscriber content as we are a subscribing institution. Please use your port.ac.uk email address when signing up. You can easily manage your email preferences by clicking ‘Subscription’ in the top-right corner when logged in to change the frequency and content of the alerts you receive.

For those of you with projects and applications underway that may be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, UKRO has prepared a new section on their website to make it easy to find the latest announcements and advice. This new page is available in the ‘Resources’ tab and provides a useful overview of the main messages from the European Commission and other important information. It will be regularly updated with the latest information taken from UKRO’s daily news articles, which are now tagged with the ‘COVID-19’ hashtag for easy identification.
