International Open Access Week runs from 24th -30th October 2022. This year’s theme is Open For Climate Justice. Open Access week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access and to encourage wider participation in helping to make openness the norm in scholarship and research. Universities and other institutions across the UK and beyond have arranged a number of events to celebrate Open Access week which are open to all. Here are some of the highlights:

  • The publisher ACS (American Chemical Society) is holding a series of webinars throughout the week covering copyright, preprints, open access and more. See here for further information and to register.
  • The British Library is holding an online Open and Engaged event on climate research on Monday 24th October. Programme and booking available here.
  • The White Rose Libraries of Leeds, Sheffield and York are launching their Open Educational Resources Toolkit on Tuesday 25th October.
  • New Horizons in Open Access: A webinar about Diamond Open Access hosted by University College Cork on Tuesday, October 25. Register here.
  • There is an online webinar on the Plan S Rights Retention Strategy, ‘ Why the Plan S rights retention strategy matters’ hosted by the University of Derby on Wednesday 26th October. Book here.
