Our local NHS RECs (Research Ethics Committees), which meet in Southampton, are in urgent need of lay members ‐ please see the advertisement. Whilst the work is voluntary, it is very interesting, includes comprehensive training, is extremely rewarding and, given the range of applications reviewed, offers good research development opportunities. If anyone is interested and would like to have an informal chat, the University Ethics Adviser, David Carpenter (david.carpenter@port.ac.uk), would be very happy to offer his support.
